12-Stroke Improvement Leads Cougars to Eighth
Women's Golf - Mon, Apr. 17, 2017
The Indiana University Kokomo women's golf team traveled to Augusta, Mich. to compete at the Lawrence Tech Spring Tournament, a two-day event hosted at the Stonehedge Golf Club contested over two courses.
The Cougar women finished round two of the Lawrence Tech Spring Tournament with a 12-stroke improvement over day one. The Cougars shot 386-374 and finished 8th of 9 teams.
The IU Kokomo women were led by Lela Crawford who scored a total of 186 (91-95) for 35th place.
Immediately following Crawford, AnneMarie Balsbaugh (98-90) and Bailey Troutman (96-92) tied for 36th, each posting a 188.
"The team was challenged day one with a very hilly and narrow course. Day two, players were exposed to very high winds which made scoring difficult. The ladies have really played well our last two tournaments. As a team we struggled with emotional resilience and letting things not in our control dominate our state of mind. This is something the team must improve upon before we head into our conference match next week," Coach Julie Wagner commented on the team's performance at Stonehedge Golf Club.
The River States Conference Championships will take place at Lassing Point Golf Club in Union, Ky. with the Cougar women competing April 24-25 for the final match of the season.
